Guymon has a diverse range of arts and culture to share and promote, including our Cultural Arts District Downtown. (Map)

In recognizing that, the Guymon Area Arts and Humanities Commission was established by City of Guymon
Ordinance No. 688 in 2005 to increase appreciation of and participation of Guymon area residents in the arts and humanities and to promote, coordinate, and strengthen public programs to further cultural development of the city, as well as promote employment opportunities for artists.

In August of 2015 GAAHC initiated a planning committee for the formation of a Cultural Arts District in downtown Guymon based on the many cultural and arts assets already existing, as well as the potential to further develop programming to complement those assets. A Letter of Intent to form this district and apply for assistance was sent to the Oklahoma Arts Council in November of 2015.

In April of 2016, a formal application and plan was submitted to the Oklahoma Arts Council for a Cultural District Initiative Grant, a five-year development program assisted by the National Endowment for the Arts and matched by Guymon Convention and Tourism. GAAHC was notified of the grant award in July 2016.

Second Saturdays:
Harvest Fest- PTCI Crew
The Cultural Arts District goal is to provide access to arts and culture opportunities while creating an environment which promotes interaction, dialogue, discussion and lasting relationships between artists, the public, and community partners.

Events and programs kicked off the Second Saturday in Oct. 2016 with Harvest Festival: Cultivating Community. This was a celebration of Ag, Visual and Performing Artists, Cultures, and History to kick-off the five-year plan.  Programming is ongoing.
